Zanzibar – The Magical Island

The largest island in the archipelago, Zanzibar Island (Unguja), is Africa’s tropical paradise. The beautiful island is 80 kilometers long and 30 kilometers wide, covered in coconut plantations, spice farms, and lush vegetation. It offers the world’s most beautiful beaches for the explorer, the adventurer, and the romantic.

Exploring the beautiful Zanzibar

Laze on the beach and explore the narrow alleyways of Stone Town. Hear the chatter of the locals as they bargain in Ki Swahili and feel the rhythm of life in the markets. Smell the peculiar odor of a 1000-year-old town mixed with the aroma of freshly ground spices. Taste its offerings, an ancient village that has not changed for the last 200 years. Because of the long history in the spice trade and numerous spice plantations, these islands are also known as the Spice Islands.

There are beautiful roads through mango groves and the forest near Jozani, where you can witness the unique Kirk’s red colobus. Everywhere you will find small rural communities, where chickens and children run all over the roads, and you are greeted with smiles.

At high tide, the coastline features picture-perfect beaches. The coral reefs, accessible by boat for snorkeling and diving, are rich in marine life and turtles. Small fishing settlements may be found at the bank of the beaches, shaded by coconut trees. Fat ducks waddle around, fishing nets dangle from crooked wooden racks, and seaweed is stretched out to dry in little houses sunk in sand drifts.

The culture of Zanzibar

Zanzibar Island is not only known for its laid-back beach life, but it also has a diverse range of activities as well as a vibrant culture and history. The historical Stone Town is a fascinating cultural spot. Foodies and culture vultures must visit the Sultan’s Palace, the House of Wonders, and the Darajani or Forodhani food markets. You may take a Spice Tour or swim among tropical reef fish while exploring the magnificent coral reefs. Zanzibar Island provides everything you need for a wonderful vacation.
